Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We develop a speech interface for a Japanese math editor as an assistive tool to an education of science for visually disabled persons. It allows them to access technical materials by speech ranging from high-school textbooks to professional documents. Furthermore, functions of writing and editing math expressions are also available by speech navigation. Expanding this technology, we can develop a sound-input interface of math expressions for persons with orthopedic impairment. Combining it with other technologies such as OCR for math expressions, we could realize barrier-free environment for all users of math expressions.
