Abstract(in English) | If every website is designed to be accessible, required information can easily obtained via the Internet even by elderly people and people with disabilities as well as ordinary people. In order to help create such website, several guidelines which describes practical methods to improve web accessibility were proposed. Web accessibility also depends upon its hierarchical structure and understandability of selected information, particularly for persons with visual impairments who have to rely on voice guidance for reading website contents. In an attempt to evaluate effects of the afore-mentioned two factors on web accessibility, experiments were performed to select a single data from a hierarchically structured website including 26 sequential elements, solely by means of voice guidance. Consequently, the two factors were verified to significantly affect web accessibility when using voice guidance, suggesting that selected data simultaneously displayed should be understandable and its quantity should be restricted to a certain limit, for instance below 5. |
