Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper first discusses Process Professional Assessment (PPA) by describing the differences between PPA and Capability Maturity Model (CMM) and showing applied examples of PPA. In Japan, there is mounting interest toward Software Process Assessment (SPA) owing to the spread of the software process assessment model, CMM in the US and the international standardization of ISO/IEC TR 15504. Over the years, CMM-based SPA has been the mainstream in Japan, but we introduced PPA-based SPA for the first time in Japan. PPA is more business-oriented assessment model than CMM. This introduction was also an event of great significance if we considered an application of ISO/IEC TR 15504 would be carried out acquisition by government procurement in the future. This paper reports the evaluation on software process assessment (SPA) used PPA method has resulted in being effective in Japan.
