Abstract(in English) IMT-2000 (3^ Generation) network has launched and the multimedia traffic of the mobile internet service is rapidly increasing in accordance with the speeding up of the wireless access link. Therefore, it is important for the next generation mobile network beyond IMT-2000 not only to achieve high quality and efficient packet transport of huge amount of IP traffic but also to accommodate various kinds of wireless access systems such as 3G or Wireless LAN. We have proposed the next generation mobile network, IP^2 (IP-based IMT Network Platform), and studied the IP^2 mobility management protocol that can satisfy mobile carrier's requirements. In this paper, we compare IP^2 mobility management protocol with the Mobile IPv6 from the quantitative aspects. Then, we discuss the experimental results of the IP^2 mobility management method and Mobile IPv6 that we implemented on our testbed system and show the feasibility of our proposed mobility management method.
