Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is important to clarify teletraffic characteristics for planning, designing, and operating mobile communication networks. Handoff between the base stations is necessary to support the terminal mobility in these mobile networks, and hence the traffic characteristics are greatly influenced by the terminal motion characteristics, which should be taken into consideration in mobile communication network simulator. A terminal motion model was developed to be incorporated in a network simulator OPNET. The model can employ arbitrary motion characteristics (typically, cell dwell time distribution and direction transition probability). Pedestrian motion was modeled based on measurements. The terminal motion was evaluated using the pedestrian motion characteristics.
