Consideration on an Energy Sequence Estimation Receiver for Frequency Hopping MFSK Signals on Multipath Fading Channels

Abstract(in English) The energy detection for continuous or non-continuous phase FSK signal is a non-coherent detection methods that attains the minimum BER on the AWGN channel, hi this paper, the branch metric definition hi the conventional energy detected sequence estimation receiver for 2FSK signal has been extended and improved to obtain a new sequence estimation receiver for M-ary FSK signal on a frequency selective multipath fading channels. Analytical upper and lower bounds on the BER are derived for 2FSK with the modulation index h = 10. The BER performances of MFSK with M=4, 8 and 16 are examined through computer simulation. Very low and stable BER performance against the variation of phases of delayed waves has been found with the increase of M value. That means that the frequency hopping diversity effect of an M-ary FSK with non-coherent sequence estimation has been clarified. The proposed scheme will be very effective for ITS communication schemes using millimeter waves, etc.
