Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (Espar) antenna has a simple hardware topology and expected as an adaptive antenna for consumer applications. The Espar antenna has only one RF port, so it offers a low power consumption and low fubrication cost. Due to its oversimplified configuration, the Espar antenna was considered impossible to provide high complicated functionality unlike DBF antennas. However, recent technical attemps have given an insight into a possibility for Espar antennas to perform super-resolution estimation of arrival directions such as MUSIC or ESPRIT. The dedicated approach called "reactance-domain signal processing" makes array singal vectors and singal covariance matrix available even in an Espar antenna. Mapping from the reactance domain to the element space let us exploit the sub-array space smoothing technique. Especially in seven-element hexagonal layout, three pairs of rhombusses lie and exhibit invariance against both slide and rotation. This technique leads the Espar antenna to fine resolution of coherent multiple waves arriving simultaneously.
