Multimedia Integrated Control Scheme for Mobile Ad-hoc Communications

Abstract(in English) Recently, mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) has been actively researched. The MANET has no base station and constructs temporary networks only with mobile nodes. When the multimedia packets like text, voice, audio and video are transmitted on the MANET, the using shortest route and constant transmission rate as the conventional scheme is not efficient. Here, we propose a Multimedia Integrated Control Scheme to transmit multimedia traffic on the MANET. This new scheme consists of two protocols, Low-velocity Priority Routing (LPR) and Maximum Available transmission Rate Control (MARC). LPR is applied to real-time data transmission such as voice and video, and stable communication for long period becomes possible. On the other hand, MARC is applied to non-real-time data transmissions such as image and file transfer, and high-speed data transmission becomes possible. We show numerically the validity of Multimedia Integrated Control Scheme by computer simulation.
