Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In ad hoc wireless networks, with the introduction of multihop connection, it is possible to reduce the interference range by lowering the transmit power, hence to improve the network throughput. On the other hand, the throughput of the multihop connection decreases with the increment of the number of hops, which would result in the decrement of the network throughput. In order to clarify the effectiveness of multihop connections, the experiments of multihop communications are carried out using several laptop computers equipped with IEEE802.11b wireless LAN cards. Additionally, computer simulations are conducted to evaluate the network performance with multihop connections in a more general traffic condition.
