Experimental Results about Receiving ISDB-T Using an Antenna on a Portable Terminal

Abstract(in English) ISDB-T (Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting for Terrestrial) starts in December 2003. Programs for mobile terminals with 1 segment receiving will starts sometime soon and development of an antenna for the ISDB-T is required now. In this report, we show the experimental results about receiving test program with an antenna on the portable terminal. As test antennas, we use a conventional monopole antenna and the proposed antenna using retractable housing. The latter antenna can be achieved with small size because housing itself becomes an antenna. The experimental results show that the gain of both antennas is only a few dB lower than that of reference dipole antenna.
