Content°based Image/Video Information Description and Retrieval for Mobile Multimedia Applications

Abstract(in English) In the field of mobile communication, a mobile multimedia communication has been a key technology, which enables us to handle broad-band contents such as image/video information media. In addition to platform development of the multimedia communication network, technologies of multimedia contents description and retrieval have been also required for multimedia applications in mobile environment. In this paper, we describe image/video database technologies which are key components for mobile image/video applications ; content-based image/video information description and retrieval methods. As a concrete application, our flower information retrieval system is introduced. The proposed system indicates the possibility of image retrieval system in mobile environment. In addition to these topics, we also discuss about a future possibility of mobile multimedia technologies for emergency situations, such as emergenry fire fightings and medical services.
