Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The rapid improvement in the capabilities of mobile terminals and the diffusion of high-speed wireless networks offers new potential for mobile data services and applications for consumers, businesses and social service provision. The identification of such new mobile multimedia communication applications and services for the healthcare industry is the focus of the mCASET (mobile Content, Applications, Services and Enabling Technologies) project. To best understand the range of potential mobile data health and welfare applications and how these could be deployed, the project initially assessed key social infrastructure, human adoption and data format issues through international comparisons and interdisciplinary analysis from technical, economical and social perspectives. In this paper we report some of our results, primarily based on interviews among various specialists in the healthcare industry. Based on the identified social, economic and technical issues raised, some implications for future mobile contents and services will be also discussed.
