Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The proliferation of mobile phones and wireless technologies manifests the visions of future networks where every object will be connected to the Internet. Mobile computing and ubiquitous computing promises a computing infrastructure that seamlessly and ubiquitously aids users in accomplishing their tasks and that renders the actual computing devices and technology largely invisible. In this presentation, we clarify four steps towards realizing mobile networks, i.e., "wireless LANs anywhere", "cross-network services", "cooperative network services", "context-aware mobile services", and present technical challenges and opportunities. In addition, we present our STONE project and MIRAI project which are performed at the University of Tokyo and Communication Research Laboratory, respectively, to investigate future mobile internetworking technologies.
