Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Bandwidth of wireless access network for the Internet is now becoming broad enough to use TCP as a transport layer protocol. When TCP is used in wireless environment, packet loss due to transmission error on wireless communication channel and path-switching delay for handover is not negligible. TCP decreases its window size when it detects packet loss by timeout or receiving three duplicate ACKs. In wireless environment, through-put of TCP is significantly degraded due to unnecessary decrease of window size caused by non-congestion-related packet loss. In this paper, we survey recent research activities in wireless TCP and also show future direction of this research area.
