Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a method of estimating TCP performance in a link on which flows with heterogeneous access-link bandwidths are aggregated. It has been reported that mean TCP file-transfer time can be evaluated using processor-sharing model when all flows have the same access link bandwidth. We thus start by developing a formula that approximates the mean TCP file-transfer time of a flow under a heterogeneous access-link condition. We then extend the approximation to handle various factors that limit actual transfer speed of a TCP flow besides access-link bandwidth. We also develop a method of bandwidth dimensioning and management based on this method of estimation.
