Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents a site-multihoming scheme in an authenticated VLAN environment. Although authenticated VLAN becomes to be popular as a low-cost network access infrastructure, an existing approach can not allow a user terminal to access to more than one target network simultaneously. This is because an authenticated VLAN switch handles only source MAC addresses to determine target networks to which packets are forwarded. Therefore, an ordinary user terminal, which has only one interface (i.e. MAC address), can not access to multiple target networks. To achieve site-multihoming, our proposal introduces a network access gateway, which can be deployed without any modification of user terminals. The network access gateway has multiple virtual network-interfaces with different MAC addresses and forwards packets via a virtual network-interface selected based on the destination address of each packet. In this paper, we also describe two additional functionalities of the network access gateway; (i) simultaneous access to multiple target networks in which address scopes overlap each other and (ii) packet forwarding without address translation.
