Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we present the design principles of our economical multicast systems and show performance evaluation results. Our systems realize quick deployment of multicast services and keeps up with demand. The system is based on new multicast technology named Flexcast. In Flexcast, branching points are on routers like IP multicast, branching function is, however, realized in the upper layer. Henceforth, Flexcast works even in such networks that include routers that don't support Flexcast. In development of Flexcast router, we adopted clustering approach that is succeeding in web search systems and GRID computing. Though this is not a standard router architecture, it brings high scalability and availability to our system without much inventment. Finally, experimental results reveal that our systems achieve high performance, scalability, and availability.
