Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For the efficient video distribution services on the Internet, to suppress the influence of packet loss is one of the important issues. As a solution of this problem, Forward Error Correction (FEC) based on Reed-Solomon codes is usually used. However, this causes the increase of network traffic, the weakness of burst packet losses and the increase of processing time at the encoder or decoder. In this paper, we focus on the erasure codes and propose the efficient multicast video distribution method which combines the multicast distribution using erasure codes and direct request to the server. We implement proposal method and confirm its efficiency from the viewpoint of redundancy and processing time.
