Abstract(in English) | The traffic characteristics of the Internet depend strongly on how to use the Internet. It has been considered that web-based HTTP traffic has been dominant in the Internet traffic and network providers have planed and operated their networks based on this type of traffic characteristics. In this paper, we show that the major traffic of the Internet is the one transferred between file-sharing software and analyze the traffic characterization of the software by comparing with that of HTTP. Next, we show that we can expect the statistical multiplexing gain is achieved and the degree in self-similarity is not so large. Finally, we discuss the 1-day cyclic characterization of the traffic. |
