Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) With increasing demands of the IP telephony service, the techniques for the management of the speech quality are needed. The packet loss has been identified as the factor that affects the speech quality at a lot of past studies. We also identified the invalid packet rate as the main factor. The invalid packet rate is calculated from the packet loss and the delay variation. On the other hand, the characteristic of the packet loss is various, and there is a report that the burst loss gave a lower listening quality than the random loss, too. However, the relation between the burst loss and the listening quality has not been clarified yet. Therefore we examine the burst loss factors that affect the listening quality by the various experiments. We also verify the effectiveness of these experiments, and show that the PESQ is suitable as the evaluation metric of the listening quality.
