Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Wide deployment of wireless local area networks (WLANs) and their high bandwidth capability enable advanced mobile multimedia services such as voice telephony, multimedia streaming, and video monitoring for security. Wireless multimedia transmission, however, still poses several challenges. This is mainly due to the time-varying and non-stationary nature of wireless channel. In this paper, we propose a novel cross-layer technique for video delivery over IEEE 802.11 WLANs to overcome the fundamental challenges of wireless environments. The joint analysis and optimization of MAC and application layer are performed for robust and efficient video transmission. The simulation results show the validation of the proposed vertical optimization.
