Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Flexcast is a highly scalable multicast protocol based on a recursive unicast approach. Unlike IP multicast approach, Flexcast works even if there are multicast in-capable routers. In this paper, we improve the Flexcast protocol to construct optimal multicast trees. Simulation results confirm that Flexcast constructs optimal trees with less control packets than other protocols that are based on the recursive unicast approach. The results also demonstrate that Flexcast provides enough multicast effects even if Flexcast capable routers are partially deployed.
