Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For the video distribution services on the Internet, to suppress the effect of packet loss is one of important issues. Usually, Forward Error Correction (FEC) based on Reed-Solomon codes is used as a solution. However, this causes the increase of network traffic, the weakness of burst packet losses and the increase of processing time at the codec. In this paper, we focus on the XOR-based coding. we propose the efficient multicast video distribution method with FEC, which is combination of multicast distribution using XOR-based crasure coding and direct request to the server. We evaluate the performance of proposed transmission method and confirm it's the efficiency.
