Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we overlook the status of R&D activities in Japan Telecom regarding the next generation value-added services using GMPLS technology that is attracting attention as a promising candidate for the control technology of next generation optical network. First, wavelength path service and wavelength VPN that are the most popular as next generation services are briefly described. Then, we look at standardization activities of the next generation services, and the requirement for the physical layer configuration for realization of next generation services is described. Moreover, description is made on the configuration and operation of a recently developed wavelength VPN prototype and on the exhibition of the prototype at ITU Telecom World 2003.
