Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper investigates an effect of Fast Sector Selection (FSS) in the forward link using the hybrid ARQ in MAC layer by the implemented OFCDM (Orthogonal Frequency and Code Division Multiplexing) transceiver with 100MHz bandwidth. The experimental results elucidated that the additional diversity effect by the FSS was small for NRT (Non-Real Time) type traffic data in which the requirement of time delay was lax, owing to the time diversity effect by hybrid ARQ with packet combining. However, it was clarified that for RT (Real Time) type traffic data with the strict delay requirement, the FSS with the sector selection interval of 5msec, which tracks instantaneous fading variation, could reduce the average received E_s/N_0 (signal energy per symbol-to-background noise power spectrum density ratio) at the residual average packet error rate of 10^<-2> by 0.5-1.5dB compared to that with one sector connection.
