Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Fault recovery becomes one of the most important issues in the Internet. Therefore, SCTP (Stream Control Transmission Protocol) is very useful because of its multihoming support. However, the current SCTP cannot use the multihoming function, because SCTP has a critical weakness that is called "Single Point of Failure". In this paper, we first do some experiment about the Single Point of Failure. In our implementation, some protocol state variables, such as the congestion window size and a parameter called the error counter, are provided for each source and destination address pair, rather than for each destination address as in the current SCTP. To do this, our implementation requires a special routing mechanism that supports source interface selection as in IPv6. By evaluation, we show that our implementation can improve the fault resilience of SCTP transmission.
