Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The automatic protection switching function allows a B-PON system that has been developed as an economic optical access network to enhance reliability. This paper describes the requirements for automatic protection switching for B-PON, and then proposes a switching method that satisfies those requirements. We introduce POPUP procedure for a defected working line before switching to prevent futile switch. We also introduce ONU's switching for its detection of defects to realize short-time switching. We propose a grant mechanism to achieve a faster switching. Finally, we provide an example of B-PON automatic protection switching implementation.
