Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a multibits/sequence-period optical code division multiple access (MS-OCDMA) system using differential encoding. In the conventional system, MS-OCDMA system, by maximum detection, an error occurs frequently in low received laser power. In the proposed system, a transmitted symbol is determined by the transmitted symbols in the previous and present slots. When the number of correlator output exceeding the threshold level is either more than two or zero, the slot is decided as an erasure slot and the symbol estimation is done by using the erasure slots. Since correlator output of correct transmitted symbol exceeds the threshold level by threshold detection, a probability to correct erasure slot becomes higher. We show that the proposed system has better bit error probability performance compared to MS-OCDMA system with Reed-Solomon codes under a fixed bit rate and a maximum number of users constraints.
