Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In coping with the rapid development of WDM networks, decreasing both the required number of optical cross-connect (OXC) switching ports and the cost of oxc are important goals. Switching the optical path solely at the fiber level (i.e., using fiber cross-connect, or FXC) is desirable. However, grooming of wavelengths for the optical fibers is only possible at the edge nodes. This problem can be solved by adding a function for switching by wavelength to some of the FXCs. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for the design of OXC functions on the basis of the FXC, minimizing the total network cost.
