Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a new packet discard scheme for the assured fowarding (AF) service class in differentiated service. Our proposed scheme compares an out packet arriving at the router with a randomly selected packet in the buffer. If the selected packet in the buffer is an out packet and has the same flow ID as arriving packet, both packets are discarded. If the selected packet in the buffer is in packet and has the same flow ID as arriving packet, only arriving packet is discarded. In our proposed scheme, when congestion occurs we can absorb degradation of responsive flow's throughput, since our proposed scheme differentially penalizes unresponsive flow. We evaluate throughput performance with conventional RIO by computer simulation. As a result, it is shown that the our proposed scheme can improve responsive flow's throughput compared to RIO.
