Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a new MAC scheme of variable length packet in Hybrid Optoelectronic Ring NET-work(HORNET), in order to improve the mean packet delay performance and throughput performance. In the proposed scheme, a packet with the length below a threshold is called short packet and a packet with the length longer than a threshold is called long packet, and when a node transmits a long packet the node transmits a subcarrier signal for reservation beforehand and reserves the transmission of a long packet. The proposed scheme can decrease the number of times which a long packet is retransmitted and thus can decrease the number of times of HoL blocking. We compare the performance of the proposed scheme with that of the conventional one with respect to the mean packet delay and throughput by computer simulations. It is shown that the proposed scheme can improve the mean packet delay performance and throughput performance.
