Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we present a way for description of density transition for multi phase X-ray CT images and its application to automated extraction of liver tumor regions. First, each normalized CT value in the image is classified into three density states (high, middle and low states). Then a vector called "transition pattern of density state" is defined by sequence of density states obtained from corresponding points in all phase images. Using this transition pattern, we developed a procedure for extraction of liver tumor region. This procedure consists of following five steps ; (1) extraction of liver regions, (2) normalization of CT values, (3) generation of density state transition pattern, (4) extraction of candidate tumor region and (5) discrimination of tumor regions. In the experiment using nine practical abdominal CT images, very promising results were obtained. |
