Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Number of operations using TPEGs (Transluminally Placed Endovascular prosthetic Grafts) is recently increasing because TPEGs operation is noninvasive. Currently, each stent graft is manually designed by a doctor so that it completely fixed to inside of patient's aorta. In the design process, anatomical knowledge is required to extract only aorta from 3D helical CT image. The manual extraction is very time consuming. A support system for the efficient design of stent graft has been required. In this paper, we propose a method for automated detection of the aortic aneurysm from the 3D helical CT data. The position of the aortic aneurysm is important information for designing the stent graft. The method is based on the fact that the section of the blood vessel is reduced by the aortic aneurysm. The proposed method evaluates the skewness of the section along the skeleton of the vessel extracted by the successive region growing (SRG). The method was successfully applied to actual 3D helical CT data.
