Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we propose the development process to make colored 3D solid models from medical images. Our system is based on newly developed industrial rapid prototyping system that can set color data inside of the model. So far, many medical 3D prototype systems are reported, however, these systems are targeting 3D surface shape reconstruction. Since the colored solid prototype system is designed for industrial applications, there are restrictions in acceptable data format and production processes, it is required to redesign generation process for medical applications. So this paper describes each process to make medical 3D solid prototypes; segmentation of image region, 3D modeling from segmented data and 3D solid prototype generation mechanism. We report sample 3D models from CT images created by using powder based 3D prototype generation hardware and our processing method. |
