Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, an acceleration method for tile size conversion transcoder of JPEG 2000 is proposed. In JPEG 2000, the original image is partitioned into tiles which are compressed independently in order to reduce memory requirement. We proposed a tile size conversion method of JPEG 2000 image at a gateway in networks. This method is very useful when JPEG 2000 data is transmitted to a limited decoder that has only a small memory. This method converts tile size in DWT coefficients domain. Consequently all the DWT Coefficients are reconstructed by decoding compressed data. Therefore the runtime of decoding-re-encoding DWT coefficients is the most demanding part of this method. We propose an acceleration method for tile size conversion, which is based on selectively decoding-encoding code-blocks. Experimental results show the effectivity of our proposed method.
