Abstract(in English) This paper analyzes how a driver can be aware of a mode while driving with a dual-mode Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system. Two types of control logic are possible for the low-speed range ACC system when the ACC system loses sight of a target vehicle to follow. One type of the control logic is that the ACC system continues to be in its active state. The other is that the ACC system is deactivated. By conducting a cognitive experiment with a driving simulator, we identify characteristics of mode awareness for each type of the control logic.
