Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to reduce a traffic accident radically, it is important to develop such technology that automatically recognizes the situation of the environment or a driver and supports the driver not to lapse into a dangerous state. This paper surveys the techniques which are used for recognition of the situation of the environment or the driver. One of such techniques is to recognize the present situation from the visual information taken with the camera attached in or out of the car. Statistical data analysis is also applicable for extracting information useful for safety support from various sensored information.
