Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) With the spread of FTTH (Fiber To The Home), the cases are increasing that optical fiber may be directly handled during maintenance work such as extension or change of transmission line in a network center, or branching optical cable. When dealing with a fiber in the state of transmission, prudent handling is required because allowable bending diameter of the standard SMF is 60mm. In this paper, we report the measurement results of loss characteristics by simulating handling works with bending loss insensitive optical fibers. Consequently, it has been verified that the fibers can be handled with negligible loss increase.
