Abstract(in English) An optical fiber line monitoring system is essential for reducing maintenance costs and improving service reliability in optical access networks. This paper describes ITU-T standardization trends and recent developments in the optical fiber maintenance and monitoring system for optical access networks, and also discusses an advanced future system for PON and ring network topologies.
