Analysis of optical pulse phase detection through coherent interaction with three level system

Abstract(in English) Utilization of internal phases of femtosecond optical pulse as information carrier is expected to expand the capacity and flexibility of optical communication and information processing. We examined the possibility of detecting pulse phase with coherent excitation of quantum wave packet in simple three level system consisting of a ground level and two closely spaced excited levels. We have found the chirp dependence of excitation, which is expected to be useful as compact and efficient means to detect pulse phase with simple three level system. We also analyzed dephasing effects to indicate suitable condition for exiciting medium.
