Measurement of Optical Damage for Infrared Wavelength in Proton-Exchanged Waveguides Formed on MgO-doped LN Crystals

Abstract(in English) The proton-exchanged waveguide formed on MgO-doped lithium niobate (LN) Crystals is expected to be resistant to optical damage (photorefractive effect). So this crystal is the attractive material for optical information and processing applications. So far, the optical damage has been an important problem in the visible region. The optical damage will be also important problem in the information wavelength region (1550 nm range) because of the high-power optical source is used for the optical devices. In this report, the photorefractive effect in the proton-exchanged waveguide formed on the MgO-doped LN used by infrared wavelength laser (1550 nm) is investigated.
