Abstract(in English) | Dynamic wavelength conversion addresses a number of key issues in WDM networks including transparency, interoperability, and network resource management. There are several devices for wavelength conversion such as a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and a highly-nonlinear fiber (HNLF). HNLF is promising because it offers high conversion efficiencies (-10~-20dB) and it is immune from pattern effects. Therefore, wavelength conversion using HNLF will be applicable to dynamic wavelength routing for future photonic burst/packet switch networks. In this report, dynamic wavelength conversion of optical code labeled packets by using HNLF and a multi-wavelength LD array module is successfully demonstrated. The conversion time is less than 1ns, and the wavelength stability of LD pump is within O.O5nm. The eight-chip binary phase shift keying (BPSK) optical code after wavelength conversion is successfully conserved owing to the nature of four-wave mixing (FWM). |
