Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Far field pattern measurement with a laser as a light source has a serious drawback: The patterns are ill-defined because of the presence of the associated speckle noise which makes the measured FFP temporally and spatially fluctuate. The fluctuation is irrelevant to the FFP that we want to measure and it has its origin in the coherent nature of the laser light. This paper reports the experimental results which showed that the speckle noise could be eliminated by applying an oscillatory disturbance to a polymer optical fiber under test. The same FFPs that would be obtained when a non-coherent light source were employed and no disturbance were applied to the POP have been obtained.
