Abstract(in English) | A resonant type optical modulator has higher efficiency of the optical modulation because the electric field on the modulating electrode can be enhanced by the electric resonance. We can simplify the formation of a reciprocating optical modulator, which consists of an optical modulator between two optical filters and can generate millimeter wave, by replacing the conventional modulator by the resonant type modulator. In this paper, we designed a resonant type LiNbO_3 (LN) optical modulator for 5 GHz band operation and numerically analyzed the resonant structure. Also, we estimated the optical filter on the LN substrate fabricated by using Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) dry etch. |
