Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Field experiments for 40Gbit/s × 8 WDM transmission through an OPGW are carried out. Wavelength spacing is set at 0.8 nm. 40Gbit/s optical signals with CS-RZ format are obtained by OTDM technique and launched into the SMF. The transmission line with a length of 240 km includes 60km × 4-span SMF and EDFA's. A dispersion slope compensation fiber is set at each span end in order to cancel accumulated dispersion. Residual dispersion value is fine-tuned at the last span end. The transmitted 40Gbit/s optical signals are demultiplexed into 10Gbit/s signals and then converted into electrical signals. As a result of the experiments, error free states are obtained in all channels and the reproduction of the characteristics is confirmed by the every month measurements from July to October.
