Distributed Polarization-Mode Dispersion Compensation using Polarizers

Abstract(in English) In polarizer-based PMD compensation systems the signal electric power can be used as the monitor signal, thus the feedback control of the PMD compensation can be simplified. In this paper, we study the mitigation of PMD impairments when PMD compensators using polarizer are distributedly inserted in the transmission line and we report the analysis result of the signal-to-noise ratio degradation which the polarizer-induced loss brings about.
