Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | It was confirmed that the bandwidth of step-index plastic optical fibers (POFs) changed greatly at a position of an incident ray on the fiber end face. To investigate this cause, the influence of leaky modes on the baseband frequency characteristics of POF was examined from calculations and experiments. As a result, it was proved that the leaky modes in the POF made the bandwidth narrow, when the POF was launched by a light source having a large radiation angle such as an LED on the POF edge side. |
