Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The small v-bend optical waveguide using an elliptic mirror is proposed to down size the optical devices. The v-bend waveguide has a large tolerance on the mirror position. The minimum length of the v-bend waveguide is about 1-2 mm. We have fabricated the polyimide v-bend waveguide. The total loss was about 10 dB, which is mainly attributed to the mirror facet tilt angle and the absorption of the Cr/Au mirror. The wavelength and polarization dependent loss were 0.7 dB and 0.1 dB, respectively.
