Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Cross-absorption modulation and cross-phase modulation induced in an electroabsorption modulator (EAM) was quantitatively analyzed utilizing delayed-interferometric configuration. All-optical wavelength conversion at 40 Gbit/s was experimentally demonstrated by the EAM in conjunction with a delayed-interferometer. We have confirmed error-free operation as well as small power penalty of 1.5 dB. It was also confirmed that the patterning effect of the all-optical wavelength converter could be reduced with increasing the bias voltage applied to the EAM.
