Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Channel waveguides are produced from organic-inorganic hybrid materials derived from the sol-gel process. The organic-inorganic hybrid film containing photosensitive C=C bonds changes by the UV irradiation. The solubility difference between irradiated and unirradiated parts can easily make a core with about 7 μm square. The refractive indexes of the core and cladding layers are measured and the single mode waveguide is designed for the materials.
